The Powerball lottery drawing took place on Wednesday, December 7th and the jackpot for the said draw was $100 million that came with a cash option of $53.3 million.
No jackpot winner
The winning numbers drawn on Wednesday night in the Powerball lottery were 06, 28, 44, 59 and 51, while 21 was the red Powerball number and 2X was the Power Play.
Unfortunately, there were no winners for the jackpot in Wednesday night’s Powerball lottery drawing, which means the prize will roll over to the upcoming draw.
The next Powerball lottery draw is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 10th, 2022 and it will have a jackpot of $116 million that will have a cash value of $61.3 million.
Smaller wins
While the latest Powerball lottery drawing did not have a grand prize winner, there were other prizes that were won on Wednesday night.
One lucky player became an instant millionaire in the Wednesday night drawing of the Powerball lottery after hitting the Match 5 that helped them win $1 million.
However, the player from Minnesota did not purchase the Power Play option with their ticket, or they would have seen their winnings double to $2 million.
There were also three lucky players who were able to hit the Match 4 and the red Powerball number, which allowed them to win a prize of $50,000 each.
But, there was only one player who was able to hit the Match 4, the Powerball number and also opted for the Power Play with their ticket, so they were able to win $100,000.
The rest of the prizes that were won in Wednesday night’s Powerball lottery draw were between $4 and $200.
A total of 353,000 players were able to win one prize or the other in the Powerball lottery on Wednesday and the total value of prizes paid out was about $3.2 million.
Previous win
This latest prize comes after a Powerball lottery player from Indiana had won a prize of $50,000. The lucky player had purchased their winning ticket in Indianapolis at a Speedway.
In order to win the jackpot, players are required to match all the six numbers that are drawn in the Powerball lottery.
They can either claim the jackpot as a lump sum, or they can opt for an annuity. In the former option, they receive the cash value of the prize.
As for the latter, they receive one immediate payment and then 29 annual payments that rise by 5% every year.
The Powerball lottery draw takes place three days a week, on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday and can be played in 45 states, the US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and District of Columbia.
