The latest Powerball lottery drawing and the first of the new year was conducted on Monday, January 2nd, 2023, and had a jackpot of about $274.6 million, which had a cash value of about $139.6 million.

No match for the jackpot

The winning numbers that had been picked in Monday night’s Powerball lottery drawing were 07, 09, 12, 31 and 62, while 22 was the red Powerball number and 2X was the Power Play.

Unfortunately, none of the players were able to match all the numbers required for winning the jackpot, which means that the prize will now roll over and be added to the next Powerball lottery drawing.

The upcoming Powerball lottery draw will take place on Wednesday, January 4th, 2023, and it will have a jackpot of about $291 million that will come with a cash option of about $147.9 million.

Instant millionaires

While there were no winners for the grand prize in Monday night’s Powerball lottery draw, some players did manage to become instant millionaires.

Two players were able to hit the Match 5, one from Missouri and the other from Kentucky, which allowed them to bag a prize of $1 million.

There was also one player from South Carolina, who hit the Match 5 and had also opted for the Power Play option with their ticket. Therefore, they were able to double their prize to $2 million.

Other winners

There were also other winners who managed to bag different prizes in the Powerball lottery draw on Monday.

A total of 12 players managed to hit the Match 4 and the red Powerball number, which allowed them to win a prize of $50,000 each.

There were also four players who were able to hit the Match 4, the Powerball number and had also opted for the Power Play option with their ticket.

Thus, they were able to double their prizes to $100,000 each. The other prizes in Monday night’s drawing of the Powerball lottery were between $4 and $200.

The latest drawing comes after the Powerball First Millionaire of the Year drawing was conducted on ABC during ‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin Eve’ and a player from North Carolina emerged as the winner.

There were a total of 29 finalists, who had been chosen from the 29 lotteries in the US that had participated, and the winner had been chosen at random.

Gary Krigbaum won a $1 million prize and the announcement was made in Times Square, shortly after midnight.

The Powerball lottery drawings are held three times each week, on Monday, Wednesday and then Saturday and people from 45 states, the US Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia can participate.
